When I stayed the night at Felicity's house we made a Ice-Skating trailer because in the last holidays we went ice-skating. It was really fun and we were falling over heaps. After I had sore knees from falling over and then having to crawl over to the side so that you are out of the way.
Hope you enjoy!

Triathlon
At school, all the year 5 and 6 went to the Triathlon. It was held at Windsor Park and we swam in the Karamu High School pool. It was so fun and exhausting at the same time. In my race I did individual and I was doing it with all year 6's and I came 3rd. I was really tired at the end but it was worth it.
Here is a Wall wisher that my class made and I was lucky and I am the main picture.

What is road sense?
Road sense is where you know the road rules for biking and what to do in different situations.
You have to know when to stop and what hand signals to use and when. You have to be able to look behind and not be wobbly.

Recording Baa Baa black sheep in Maori
This week at school for homework we had to record a nursery rime or Happy Birthday in another language other than English. I did Baa baa black sheep in Maori. This is what I created.
This is the English version |
This is a Tagxoed that I created to go with this post |
Literature Circle
For the literature circle I was the summariser where you have to summarise or in other words write a short paragraph of the book or chapter. It is so fun being the summariser but now I am the Discussion Director, where you have think of three questions about the book that are not already answered in the book and then ask them to the group. I am also the person in charge of the Literature Circle Daily Report and both of those are really fun.
Homework week 1 term 4
This week part of our homework was we have to pick a paragraph in the book that we are reading at the moment and say why we like it. I chose a book called Diary Of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days. The Passage that I have picked is on page 62 paragraph 3 because Rowley and Greg have started a Lawn Mowing VIP Business and Rowley already walked away and now it is only Greg and he is saying that he is not allowed to run over dog poop and he has to stay at least ten feet away. It is so funny.

Maths homework challenge
For homework this week we had to solve this problem and this is how I worked it out. The question was The dairy owner had 73 Powerade bottles left. Then she sold 29. How many has she got left?
The question is asking 73-29=?
This is how I worked it out.
70-20=50
53-9=44
73-29=44
How I checked it
29+1=30
30+40=70
70+3=73
40+1+3=44
Mr.M said that we can mix all the numbers up to fit where we are learning so that is what I did.
730-92__
This is how I worked it out.
730-90=640
640-2=638
730-92=638

Reflection on Optimist Yachting and Kayaking
· Something I was pleased with was that my Optimist yacht or my kayak didn’t capsize or even come close to capsizing.
· I really enjoyed learning how to Optimist yacht because it was really fun and I had never been Optimist yachting in my life so it was really interesting and I would love to do it again.
· Something I found hard was Kayaking with another person because I am use to Kayaking in a single boat but it was really fun trying it for the first time.
· Something that made me think was when to pull the Main Sheet in the Optimist yacht because I didn’t know that much about them but after my friend Felicity showed me when to pull the Main Sheet I was fine.
· Something I want to get better at is Kayaking in a double Kayak because I was struggling a little bit and I am use to a single Kayak.

Production Diary, Part two.
Day 2:
We are nearly finished our song and right now, I'm freaking out. We have to perform in front of all the team five teachers and students and I don’t want to muck up or let my team down.
We are about to perform in front of the teachers and it is really nerve breaking. I look at the clock as my friend Olivia says to me "we will all have a practice at morning tea just so that we can all remember the moves again.” I felt so relieved. RRRRRIIIIINNNNNGGGG!!! Goes the morning tea bell. “The rest of the production will go on after morning tea,” says Miss Hill. I think to myself, "phew!” Now the group and I will have the chance to practice one more time and get all the moves back into our heads and so that we don’t stuff up on stage. Morning tea is over and now we all have to perform our dance on stage in front of all team five and I am sitting down, trying to remember all the moves. I am not too sure so I had to ask Olivia. She said that I was right. I felt so scared. All of a sudden we got called up to the stage. It was our time to perform and now I was really nervous.

Cluster Expo DIGI CLASS RULES!!!
Today Felicity, Josh and I went to a Cluster Expo to share what it is like to be in a Digi Class. We all got chosen for the GREAT work that we had been doing throughout the year. What we had to do is make a presentation with all of us in it and we had to have a page each on all the subjects. A Cluster Expo is where you go to a place and you can share all the different tools that you can use on a computer and you can share all different things. It was really enjoyable and I would love to do it again.
ENJOY!!!

Production Diary. Part one.
This is a video of the boys doing our dance while they are watching.
Day one:
Hello,
I’m Hannah and in the Parkvale Live production, I'm a dancer. My dance group has chosen the song Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. It is going really well so far. I am really excited and nervous at the same time. I am mostly excited that we get to go up onto stage and perform our dance in front of everyone in the spotlight. Our dance is really good but it is getting even better as we are adding more onto it. It is getting easier to remember the moves, to get better at the moves and to come up with ideas for the song as it goes on.
In my group, there is five of us, Courtney, Charlotte, Lily, Olivia and me. We are all working together really well and coming up with great moves by showing Parkvale P.R.I.D.E.
Day three:
This week, we have been in the hall all week and we have been going through the whole production, over and over again. My group is working on BIG, BOLD ACTIONS and to do a box step.
This all of my group.
This is my group doing the action STRONGER!!!

Greek Olympic Vases
This week at school we have been creating art on Greek Olympic Vases. My story was based on Valerie Adams at this Olympics. We got the idea from the little kids in Room 5.
Valerie Adams has just thrown and she got just over 20 metres. Now it is Nadzeya Ostapchuk is about to throw. She has thrown over Valerie Adams. Nadzeya Ostapchuk is awarded a gold medal. The next thing that you know Valerie Adams has got the gold medal because Nadzeya Ostapchuk was on drugs.
Here is my art that I created.
Hope you enjoy.

Shadow Goblins
In the middle of the night, when all the people and children are asleep, outcome the shadow goblins. They are all different shapes and sizes. If you wake up in the middle of the night when you go to get a drink, there will be a Shadow goblin in the shadow of your body. At 1 o'clock in the morning, the shadow goblins move onto the sheep in the paddock. When they are asleep, the shadow goblins change the shadows like, if you are a human, when you wake up you might have a sheep shadow and the sheep will have a human shadow. If you dream about cute little puppy dogs, the next night, if you dream about little puppy dogs again, they will turn evil and come after you in real life. If you dream spooky things, they will turn all nice. The creature that does that is called the DREAM SHIFTER. If you get your dream changed, you will be able to see ghost and zombies for the rest of your life so BEWARE.

Olympic Games Opening Ceremony
Olympic Games Opening Ceremony
Hello, I’m Hannah Hansen and I will be your news reporter for the night. Well, tonight is the big night. It is the night that the London Olympics games opening ceremony 2012 set the screen and make people go CRAZY. Tonight we have lots on. Hope your ready and set for mixed emotions.
Right now, you are watching the Olympics live in London. It is really exciting here and it is also really noisy with people screaming to encourage others and their team mates. I am starting to feel nervous myself. Soon I will be talking to a swimmer from Sri Lanka and he thinks he has it under control.
"Hi, i’m a swimmer and today at the London Olympics, I will be representing Sri Lanka. I am really stoked at the amount of people here. I am feeling that I have got it all under control and I think that the rest of my Sri Lankan team has it all under control as well. " As he said.
Wow! The crowd is going louder and louder, they are all looking up. My, oh my, that is a really big parachute coming down into the stadium. It is Queen Elizabeth, and coming down after her is, who is it? Oh it is James Bond.
I never thought I would see her parachute out of a helicopter. BANG, CRASH!!! All the fireworks went off in a hurry. Fireworks after fireworks after fireworks. More and more came heavily. They were the most amazing fireworks I have ever seen. They were all different colours. As everyone look up Queen Elizabeth starts to talk. “ I declare the Olympic games to start.” she said. Everyone started to scream and shout. After the Queen had finished her speech, all the people in the stadium heard fireworks. The Olympic Games started!!!

Koru art
This week at school, we have been making art to represent Maori week. We made some art using Koru and we could chose what design we did and we made it. We had to have a koru in the foreground and one in the background. It was really fun to do because we could draw our design and we could do our own colours. This is the art that I made.

I miss you my family
Dear my family out there,
I have missed you so much you won’t believe it. I have been on the most amazing trips looking for my family or at least a friend but I have had bad luck and not found a single person . I have been on my train with the same logo as me where I nearly got hit by a moving thing in a place where the sign said factory this way. It was a big, dark, miserable place. I was so scared I turned into a ball to protect myself. 10 minutes later I uncurled myself and everything was quiet and nothing was moving. “ I wish I had my family with me now.” I said in a sad, scared voice. “ Is anyone out there?” I screamed. But no one replied.
I was stuck in this dim, dark place where there were no lights and it was really scary. I didn’t know what to do. You are my only family and I would like to meet you again because I am getting lonely out in the woods, catching all the trains that go by and them taking me to places that I have no idea where they are but I just jump on train to train, hoping to find you or a friend but it has not worked. I am now starting to think that it was a dumb idea to run away from home. I want you back. You are my only family and I will never have another one like it.
I have been so lonely out here I want a friend or my family back. I can’t live another week without you. I am really lonely and scared out here. I have to be bored all day and not do anything because I have no friends. I love you and really want to see you again.
( P.S. If you get this letter please write back and tell me where you live because I can catch the next train to that place and we can be a family again. )
Here is a link to where I saw a video and then decided to write a letter to his long lost family. It is an awesome and funny video and I think you should watch it as well.

Rotorua Adventures
On Thursday 19 of July 2012 my family went to Rotorua. The reason that we went to Rotorua is because my dad had a conference that he had to go to and it was on thursday and friday so we went with him. My sister Ruby, my brother Liam and me knew that my dad was going to Rotorua but it was a surprise in the morning for us kids that the whole family was going aswell. In the morning when it was about 6:15 we were all still sleeping but we didn’t know that mum and dad were already up and the night before my mum had been packing our bags when we were asleep. Once we had had breakfast in the morning we went to Rotorua. it took us about 3 hours to get there but it was worth it. On the first day when my dad was in his conference my family were trying to figure out what we were going to do because we wanted to save the really exciting stuff to do with my dad. Once we had decided what we're going to do we went to see some geysers. Sulphur Bay is a big bay full of geysers. One is called the Coffee Pot because when people use to bathe in it, it would stain their skin because it was so brown. Then we went to the Rotorua Museum ( Old bath house .)
It was all really interesting.First we went into a room to see a movie where the seats moved in the earthquake which was in the movie. After the movie we walked around the museum and saw heaps of different thing and we went up onto the roof where there was an amazing view.
We had a choice at one point to go underground or go up onto the roof and first we all chose to go onto the roof. We had to go down stairs to go down to underground and we had to go up stairs to go onto the roof.
In the end part of the museum there was a huge part of it that was all maori designs and Green stone necklaces or earrings. The whole museum was really interesting and I loved going there.
That night when we were finished at the museum we went and had dinner at a restaurant called Fat Dog. They have really good food there.
The next day that we were there my dads conference finished at lunchtime so we went to skyline. When we were on the Gondoliers we got my brother to take a picture of my mum, my dad, my sister and me.
When we got up the top the first thing we went on is the Sky Swing. It was going to be my dad, my brother and me but then my sister wanted to go on it so it was all us kids. I was the brave one out of all my family and I was the one that pulled the rope to release us. Out of all of us, my brother was the scariest and he is the oldest. Me and my sister really loved it and to go on it again but it was to expensive to go on it again.
Next we went on the luge and it was lots of fun. I went on it 2 times. The first time my family was around me and I went back on the chairlift with him but on the second time I went I went with no one around and I went back in the chairlift alone.
The next day we went to Rainbow Springs where we got to feed trout, see birds, see adult Tuatara and babies, see 3 kiwis and go on The Big Splash. The Big Splash is a ride that you go on and if you are at the front or at the back, you get soaked. I went on the ride 7 times and the ride was all free. The first 2 times I went to it I sat in the second row and the third time that I went on it I went in the front with my dad and when we went down the big drop my dad was leaning forward so we both got soaking wet. It was heaps of fun but after I was really cold. Where some of the Trout were, there was 2 swans and one of them kept biting our shoes. we also got to feed the trout.
On the second to last day that we were in Rotorua My mum brought me a Green Stone necklace that was the shape of a heart and I chose it. When we got home I had to pay my mum $20 because it costed $40 but me and my mum went halves.
