1. On Sri Lanka’s flag the colours and symbols mean,

• The lion in the flag represents the Sinhala race.
• The sword of the lion represents the royal family of the country.
• The handle of the sword highlights the elements of water, fire, air and earth.
• The vertical stripe of orange represent the national Tamil race and the green vertical stripe       means the national Muslim race.

2. The language that the people speak in Sri Lanka is Sinhala.

3. There are 21,513,990 people living in Sri Lanka in 2012.

4. Sri Lanka is next to Asia. It is really small on the map when you look at the difference to Asia next to it.





5. Sri Lanka is the world’s largest tea exporters.

6. Sri Lanka's national flag is known to be one of the oldest flags in the world.

7. The spice cinnamon originated in Sri Lanka and was discovered by the Egyptians.

8. The most common meal in Sri Lanka is a spicy curry served with rice.

9. There are Pyramids in Sri Lanka.
                       

 

10. Sri Lanka is an island country in the northern Indian Ocean.
                                          

11. Parts of Sri Lanka were badly damaged in the 2004 earthquake under the sea. Sri lanka was     the second worst hit but first was Indonesia. 35,000 people were killed in Sri Lanka.

My Maths Reflection: Knowledge Test

Reflection for my maths test

· Something I was pleased with was That I got 95% in the Stage 5 test and I got 50% in the stage 6 test because now I am a Mario and the only year 5 in the group.

                           

· I really enjoyed learning how to round the numbers to the nearest tens and the nearest hundred because I found it interesting and willing to do more.

                 

· Something I found hard was writing the words of the numbers and then writing the numbers of the words.

· Something that made me think was how to write the new number because where it says that I had to add 10 to 111 111 and that is where I got stuck.

                

· Something I want to get better at is writing the numbers and also adding or subtracting big numbers from big numbers.

What I can do about it is practice and  practice for extra homework each night.

Maps of Mountain Valley

My teacher, Mr Moriarty gave everyone in the class a piece of A3 paper and said that we had to draw a map of Mountain Valley camp ground. We could either do it close up or far away and I chose far away. Next we had to draw the map in pencil then colour it in coloured pencil and out line it in vivid. After that we had to draw a compass and a key then do instructions how to get from one place to another using the compass. Then we did a title and glued it onto a piece of paper and put it up on the wall. I found it really fun to draw abut at first I thought it was going to be really hard but I was wrong.
