Nga Rakau Triathlon Reflection

Reflection for Nga Rakau Triathlon

· Something I was pleased with was that I crossed the finish line with a smile on my face because I knew that I had finished.

· I really enjoyed learning how hard it actually was to do 4 lengths of the pool after you have done a bike because I was on gear 6 and it was really hard so my legs had to work hard.
· Something I found hard was running with a sore knee and calf muscle.
· Something that made me think was what place I was coming in the race because I wanted to make my family proud.
· Something I want to get better at is swimming when I am puffed.
What can I do about it?

Work harder at swimming lessons so I can swim more iffitiontly.

I am really proud of myself because I tried my best and I did not give up when I was running with a sore calf Muscle and a sore Knee. I ended up coming 5th.

Here is an image that I created on Tagul.

Back Flip

When I got home from school on Friday me and dad went onto the tramp and my dad was teaching me how to do a back flip and land it. After 5 failed attempts I got it. I showed mum and she suggested that I video it and post it on my blog so I am.
Hope you enjoy!

Jelly-Bean Problem

This is a maths problem that Mr Moriarty sent to us for homework. This is what the problem is: I picked up a handful of jelly beans. One - third of them were red. What might a drawing of the jelly beans look like.
Hope you enjoy the examples that I have made:-)

My Taonga

Challenge Tree
Things that are special to my family

Two things that are special to my family are a belt and three medals. It is my Dad's grandfather on my Nana’s side of the family. His name is Norman Godkin.

Norman was in World War 1 and was a prisoner of war. He ripped the belt off a train seat and sewed the buttons he had collected. The buttons and badges were from other soldiers. Many are from different countries and many are from soldiers that died. There is also a bullet on his belt which came out of his leg. Here are some photo's of the belt and the badges.

Top House and Te Mata

Legend of Te Mata

I was so pleased with how everyone had a really good time and I am really proud of myself.

I really enjoyed learning the story of Te Mata and then getting to share it with the whole school.

I would like to have a go at being Hinerakau and a warrior.

I loved how we all contributed and had a great time.

I would like to get better at talking louder and next time to learn my lines off by heart .

Top House

My favorite event was rolling the ball down the sticks because we bet the other team by far.

Something I was proud of was that Tui all together got 70 points and I am really proud of us.

Something I found challenging was the task where we had to all get to the other side on the sticks.

Recording Baa Baa black sheep in Maori

This week at school for homework we had to record a nursery rime or Happy Birthday in another language other than English. I did Baa baa black sheep in Maori. This is what I created.

This is the English version
This is a Tagxoed that I created to go with this post

Literature Circle

For the literature circle I was the summariser where you have to summarise or in other words write a short paragraph of the book or chapter. It is so fun being the summariser but now I am the Discussion Director, where you have think of three questions about the book that are not already answered in the book and then ask them to the group. I am also the person in charge of the Literature Circle Daily Report and both of those are really fun.

Homework week 1 term 4

This week part of our homework was we have to pick a paragraph in the book that we are reading at the moment and say why we like it. I chose a book called Diary Of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days.  The Passage that I have picked is on page 62 paragraph 3 because Rowley and Greg have started a Lawn Mowing VIP Business and Rowley already walked away and now it is only Greg and he is saying that he is not allowed to run over dog poop  and he has to stay at least ten feet away. It is so funny.

Maths homework challenge

For homework this week we had to solve this problem and this is how I worked it out. The question was The dairy owner had 73 Powerade bottles left. Then she sold 29. How many has she got left?

The question is asking 73-29=?

This is how I worked it out.

70-20=50
53-9=44

73-29=44

How I checked it

29+1=30
30+40=70
70+3=73
40+1+3=44
Mr.M said that we can mix all the numbers up to fit where we are learning so that is what I did.

730-92__

This is how I worked it out.

730-90=640
640-2=638

730-92=638

Reflection on Optimist Yachting and Kayaking

· Something I was pleased with was that my Optimist yacht or my kayak didn’t capsize or even come close to capsizing.

· I really enjoyed learning how to Optimist yacht because it was really fun and I had never been Optimist yachting in my life so it was really interesting and I would love to do it again.

· Something I found hard was Kayaking with another person because I am use to Kayaking in a single boat but it was really fun trying it for the first time.

· Something that made me think was when to pull the Main Sheet in the Optimist yacht because I didn’t know that much about them but after my friend Felicity showed me when to pull the Main Sheet I was fine.

· Something I want to get better at is Kayaking in a double Kayak because I was struggling a little bit and I am use to a single Kayak.

Production Diary, Part two.

Day 2:

We are nearly finished our song and right now, I'm freaking out. We have to perform in front of all the team five teachers and students and I don’t want to muck up or let my team down.

We are about to perform in front of the teachers and it is really nerve breaking. I look at the clock as my friend Olivia says to me "we will all have a practice at morning tea just so that we can all remember the moves again.” I felt so relieved. RRRRRIIIIINNNNNGGGG!!! Goes the morning tea bell. “The rest of the production will go on after morning tea,” says Miss Hill. I think to myself, "phew!” Now the group and I will have the chance to practice one more time and get all the moves back into our heads and so that we don’t stuff up on stage. Morning tea is over and now we all have to perform our dance on stage in front of all team five and I am sitting down, trying to remember all the moves. I am not too sure so I had to ask Olivia. She said that I was right. I felt so scared. All of a sudden we got called up to the stage. It was our time to perform and now I was really nervous.

Production Diary. Part one.

This is a video of my group dancing to our song.

This is a video of the boys doing our dance while they are watching.

Production Diary:

Day one:

Hello,
I’m Hannah and in the Parkvale Live production, I'm a dancer. My dance group has chosen the song Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. It is going really well so far. I am really excited and nervous at the same time. I am mostly excited that we get to go up onto stage and perform our dance in front of everyone in the spotlight. Our dance is really good but it is getting even better as we are adding more onto it. It is getting easier to remember the moves, to get better at the moves and to come up with ideas for the song as it goes on.

In my group, there is five of us, Courtney, Charlotte, Lily, Olivia and me. We are all working together really well and coming up with great moves by showing Parkvale P.R.I.D.E.

Day three:

This week, we have been in the hall all week and we have been going through the whole production, over and over again. My group is working on BIG, BOLD ACTIONS and to do a box step.

This all of my group.

This is my group doing the action STRONGER!!!

White Pine Bush and Lake Tautira

Renee and my plant that we planted together.

One of the Plants that one of us planted.
Half of the group that went on the trip.
On the 6th of August, 2012, some seniors got chosen to go to White Pine Bush and Lake Tautira to learn about nature and to plant some little plants. We all got chosen by the teacher and he chose us for a reason. While we were at White Pine Bush, the people that worked there, they asked us lots of questions and gave us lots of information on trees and nature.

Here are some pictures on our special trip.

My Maths Reflection: Multiplication Strategies

Voice Recorder >>

This is my Maths reflection on one of the maths times tables that my group the SONICS had to do with the teacher. It was really fun to do and also made it really easy for me.

Maths Reflection
Multiplication Strategies

· Something I was pleased with was that at Maths time I got all the questions right because at first I didn’t really get what we were doing but I had a go and ended up getting them all right.

· I really enjoyed learning was the  addition and subtraction strategies because it made it easier for me.

· Something I found hard was when we had to use a calculator when we had to reverse the numbers and  put them into the calculator and see if the answer was the same no matter what way we put them.

· Something that made me think was some of my 7X and 8X because I know nearly all my other X tables but I struggle on my 7 & 8 times tables.

· Something I want to get better at is my 7 & 8 times tables.
(What can I do about it?) use the maths symbaloo and practice on Tutpup.

Autumn Leaves

Voice Recorder >>

                             By Hannah Hansen

The sun makes the leaves all crispy
and all wrinkled up like and old
raisin left in the sun.

The wind shakes the trees and make the leaves
fall off all over the ground
and the leaves make a mess everywhere.

                                          The colours that the leaves
come in are amazing,
Reds, Browns,
Oranges and Greens.

The trees shake and shake not stopping till
   the wind dies down.

The leaves have just fallen off
and now it is winter and
the trees are now empty looking  like a skeleton.

WALT: observe and include specific details in our writing
SUCCESS CRITERIA

SELF ASSESSMENT
Includes four nouns (from observation)
Made the nouns do something
Started each new description on a new line:)
Extended each line so it makes more sense
(may include a who, where, why, what, when).
:l

This is my leaf that I made out of paper, die, leaves and coloured writing off the computer.
I really enjoyed making my leaf because I did it on the computer.
It was awesome making it and I am sure I will make another one sometime soon.
