Mathletics

Over the last past week I have been designing a mathletics poster for maths. I have just finished and I think that it looks pretty cool. I am going to enter it in a competition with all of the other childrens designs.

Reflection for Mathletics

Something I was pleased with was that my design went well because I didn’t do that much mistakes.                        

I really enjoyed learning how to draw different designs because some of them I have never done before.                

Something I found hard was drawing the circle in vivid because the vivid didn’t fit in the compass.

Something that made me think was what design was going to do for my final design because I wanted it to look really cool.              

Something I want to get better at is not making big blobs in the middle of my design when I can’t draw the circles.

         

What can I do about it? Find a different way to get the vivid in the compass.

First Parachute jump science

Equiptment

• Scissors
• Plastic bag
• Straw
• Cello tape

Prediction:

I thought that the parachute was going to fall down and go all messy.

Observe:

First you cut the straw into 8ths till you reach the bendy part. Next you cut the handles and the bottom off the plastic bag then cut the plastic bag into halves and then cut one of the halves into squares. Next you origami fold the square into 16ths then cut the top off the shape that you have made. Open the plastic and you should see a circle. Now you place the cut straw on the plastic and spread them out evenly. Tape them down with cello tape and then tape the end of the straw closed. Now turn the parachute over and let it go up in the air. You have made a Parachute.

Henna Hands

Imaan invited her mum to come into our class and do Henna on the girls hands. We all got different designs on our hands and they all look really cool. The reason that she came in is because in our class, we are learning about India. All the henna looked really cool. When she was putting it on us, the Henna paste was very cold. After it was put on us, we had to wait till it was dry. For me, it took about 1 and a half hours for it to dry and then for it to fall off. When the brown paste fell off, it went bright orange.

Kensuke's Kindgdom

We have just finished reading a book in our class called Kensuke's Kingdom. One of the things that we got to do in class while we were reading the book was , we got to draw the map of the Island that the book was based at. Kensuke's Kingdom is an amazing book and I really like it.

My Angry Bird

Over the last few days of school, we have been working on angry birds with our buddy class.
What we did was with our buddy class we went out on the court with lots of different P.E gear and we had to act out as many verbs as we could think of. Then write them down on our piece of paper but we had to write present tense, past tense and future tense.

My Learning Slogan

In our school we are having a special assembly where each class has made up a Learning Slogan and they have to chant it to the school. In Room 16 we all made a Slogan and then we voted which 2 we should do. This is what I created.

Pen pal letters

Today I finished my pen pal letter that we are sending to America. Everyone in the class has
a pen pal and my pen pals name is Courtney. I have had her as my pen pal for the second year
this year. I am really excited to hear back from her and I can't wait to see what she says.

Today I finished my Cat art by Paul Klee. I think that it was really fun and it started off like a W and then ended up like a cat. I really enjoyed this art and it took me two days. I think it is really cool. Hope you enjoy!

This is my art that I created called the Tree Of Life by Klimt but my class renamed it The Tree Of Pride. All the symbols represents me. My favourite symbol is the one with the pencil and the line coming out from it because I LOVE writing and drawing.

Greek Olympic Vases

This week at school we have been creating art on Greek Olympic Vases. My story was based on Valerie Adams at this Olympics. We got the idea from the little kids in Room 5.

Valerie Adams has just thrown and she got just over 20 metres. Now it is Nadzeya Ostapchuk is about to throw. She has thrown over Valerie Adams. Nadzeya Ostapchuk is awarded a gold medal. The next thing that you know Valerie Adams has got the gold medal because Nadzeya Ostapchuk was on drugs.

Koru art

This week at school, we have been making art to represent Maori week. We made some art using Koru  and we could chose what design we did and we made it. We had to have a koru in the foreground and one in the background. It was really fun to do because we could draw our design and we could do our own colours. This is the art that I made.

Mandy's Garden

This is my art that I did on Mandy's Garden which is a production that the juniors did and it is really cute. My sister is a worm in the production and they sing Wriggle Wriggles. The play is all about a girl named Mandy and she was playing with her ball when she hit a little flower. Mandy does not care about the flowers or insects but the flowers and insects don't like that so they try to change it. It has a really good bass line and I would love to see it again.

The Lorax

Last week we read the story of The Lorax. The Lorax book is all about a little monster and he is the guardian  of the Truffler trees which are funny tall trees. There is a man and he comes along and chops down

all the trees and the Lorax is the only person with a Truffler tree seed and so he gives it to this boy and he is relaying on him to make a forest of Truffler trees again. My teacher said that we had to do some art on the Lorax and we could make it how we liked and this is what I did.

My Advertisement

At school I made a poster on Save The World, Don''t Litter. We got put into groups for topic which we had to make an poster on what group we were in. I got put into the group Plastic. My group came up with heaps of ideas and we wrote them on a big piece of paper then we had to try and make those ideas work. My poster is trying to convince people to stop littering.
